CITY VIEW HOTEL, KINGSTON

Intimacy in the Hills: Glen & Melissa at City View Hotel

High in the hills of Kingston, away from the noise and bustle of the city, Glen and Melissa celebrated their wedding in the most honest way possible. It was a small, intimate gathering where the focus wasn't on a "show," but on the connection between two people and their closest inner circle.

Presence Over Performance

Melissa has a vibrant, infectious personality and was a natural in front of the lens. Glen, on the other hand, was much more reserved when it came to the camera. We spoke about many things throughout the day, and he was incredibly easy to talk to, but like many people, things felt a bit awkward the moment he felt he had to "pose."

This is exactly why I don't care about performance. I’ve found that when people feel they have to "act" for a photo, they look stiff. My goal is simply for the couple to be present and enjoy the day. When you stop worrying about the camera and just live the moment, the authenticity follows.

The Power of Connection

Connection is a huge part of how I work. I love meeting couples before the wedding to learn what makes them tick, as it keeps the interactions natural. On the wedding day, building rapport with the wedding party is just as important. I’m an Arsenal fan, so joking around with the best man about his Chelsea shirt was the perfect icebreaker. That bit of banter helped us all click, making the photography feel less like a task and more like a conversation.

A Quiet Escape

The haze that day may have hidden the city lights below, but it only added to the feeling of being in our own little world. You could feel the love between Glen and Melissa in every glance. They weren't concerned with perfection; they just wanted to enjoy their day, and it was a joy to capture that reality.
